How many of us were told as a child "You can't sing", or even "just mouth the words" ? How many grew up in an environment where we were expected to be seen and not heard? How many of us felt un-listened to, especially when things got rough and our emotions started to overflow? Perhaps the adults around us did not know how to cope with raw emotion; something that they preferred to stay hidden. All these things, and many more besides, lead us, as young children to start closing down our natural self expression, starting to censor every sound that we utter, in case it is criticised, laughed at, or not acceptable.
Through voice work we can begin to face these long-held fears and come together to enjoy sharing our voices- in words, song, sound and even in silence. Through this work we can begin to uncover and reclaim our own unique authentic voice so that we can contribute more of ourselves to the world around us and enjoy coming together with others to sound from our hearts, from the essence of our beings. We can celebrate the joy again in free expression; our passion for life.
Singing is a great way to lift our spirits and celebrate being fully alive!
When we come together to sing chants, mantras and other uplifting songs,
we find that through chanting and singing from our hearts that our mind becomes more still,
our heart more open to joy and compassion and
our body able to relax and listen deeply, feeling in harmony with the flow of life.
From this place of compassion, deep listening, and community
we find we can begin to explore the voice we never dared to show
- our authentic voice, our soul's expression.

Elizabeth trained with Chloe Goodchild of The Naked Voice.
Chloe Goodchild founded The Naked Voice over 25 years ago as a unique way of exploring our voices individually and collectively. She sees the naked voice as the natural expression of who we are- the mouthpiece of our soul- as simple as breathing. Through a sequence of simple exercises and shared experience we are encouraged to listen anew to our own voices and to each others, from a place of non-judgement, acceptance and compassion. To allow our free spirit to sing, as if opening the door of the cage for the songbird. The result can be quite surprising, and is always an adventure! When we come together in such a place of non-judgement we find that we all speak the same voice, as we all speak in our unique ways from the same universal heart.
